Nancy Harter Obituary

Nancy Ione Harter

Mason - Nancy Ione Harter, 77, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2021, at her home in Mason, Michigan. She was born January 10, 1944, to Frank and Ione (Huntley) Rossman and grew up on a dairy farm in Kingston, MI. She moved to Lansing to study at Davenport College, where she met her husband, Robert Harter. Their love created 56 years of memories as husband & wife.

Nancy worked as a paralegal for many years, but it was her family and animals that she truly loved. She always had a dog or two at her side, and a barn of horses to ride and show. A gifted horsewoman, Nancy showed horses for many years and won many awards, even a National Championship in Western Pleasure in 2012. Her memories of good friends and good times at the horse shows were cherished by her always.

It was unquestionable that she always wanted the best for her family and loved them all immensely. Her grandson was her pride and joy. Til her last days, she was reminiscing of the two of them playing with Legos and was "bragging" about his current accomplishments at Purdue University.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Robert Harter; her children, Wendy (David Meyer) and Eric Harter; her grandson, Zachary Harter; and her brother, Robert Rossman.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Ella Mae Dafoe. There is comfort in knowing they are together when we cannot be.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 23 from 5pm until 7pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Mason Chapel, 621 S. Jefferson St. in Mason. Nancy specifically requests that everyone dress casually as they come to remember her life (yes, jeans are ok). Masks will be required and social distancing is in effect.

A private family service will be held, with interment to follow in Hawley Cemetery in Mason.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 865 S. Cedar St. Mason, MI 48854. The care and comfort provided by Heartland Hospice was so appreciated by Nancy's family.

Nancy was a dear friend to me and my children as they we growing up. We spent so much time together, in the pool with the kids, going out for breakfast, supporting each other and looking after each others' children. We also worked together, and although we haven't seen each other as years have passed, she will always remain in my heart. Condolences to Robert, Wendy, and Eric. Rest in peace Nancy.
