Thomas Peters Obituary

Reverend Thomas Peters Potterville, MI Age 77, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008. Mr. Peters was born November 27, 1930 in Zion, IL the son of Steve and Elsie (Swaney) Peters. Mr. Peters was a Pastor who had his Master's Degree in ministry. He enjoyed the ministry, serving many mid-Michigan churches. Tom was a Guidance Counselor for the Grand Ledge Public Schools from 1970 to 1989. He was fortunate to have married all of his children and baptized all of his grandchildren. Mr. Peters was involved in several sports programs as a Little League Coach in both baseball and basketball and was an avid golfer. He enjoyed being a church camp counselor and was known as the Duct tape king. Mr. Peters family gave him the most enjoyment in his life, he would even keep in touch with his family in Zion, IL and always attended his family reunions. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Ann; two sons, David (Michelle) Peters of Shepherd and Dean (Michelle) Peters of Olivet; daughter, Lauri (Martin) Hernandez of Potterville; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, Nicolas Peters of Zion, IL, George Peters of Wadsworth, IL, James Peters of Oklahoma and David Peters of Zion, IL; and sisters, Kathryn (Ervin) Bottger of Oklahoma and Helen (Don) Banta of Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel in 1995 and brothers, Daniel, Ted, Jerry and Harry. Family will receive visitors at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008 with a memorial service to follow at 4:00 p.m. at the Grand Ledge United Methodist Church with family members officiating. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the West Michigan Conference of the United Methodist Church Camp Scholarship Fund and Forgotten Man Ministries.
