ARVIS HARDING Obituary

ARVIS HARDING Arvis Henry Harding, age 77, returned to his Heavenly Father Thursday, July 19, 2018, following a fierce battle with cancers spanning five years. He was born September 29, 1940 in Brigham City, Utah to Virga May Harding (née Holst) and Alma Dayley Harding. Arvis was a police officer for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. P# 236 reported for duty July 6, 1964. He retired January 6, 1995 after more than 30 years of service. However, he went back to serve part-time as a civilian in 1998 until his "second retirement" in May 2007. September 3, 1971 Arvis married Gwenneth Ann Harding (nee Neuhalfen) in Las Vegas. Arvis shall be remembered by all for his keen sense of humor, his wise advice and the immense love and pride he had for his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gwen; daughter, Tanya (Eric) Christensen; son, Allen Harding; daughter, Clairann McAnally; daughter, Mandi (Robert) Wilkins; and son, David (Sage) Harding, all of Las Vegas. He leaves behind eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Viewing will be from 4 7 p.m. Thursday, July 26, with services at 11:30 am. Friday, July 27, both at Palm Northwest Mortuary and Cemetery, 6701 N. Jones Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89131.

I'll always remember the camping trips we went on with Arvis & his family, that green Chevy truck with the forest decals, and the time I spent in the detective bureau with him. I never knew Arvis to refuse a favor for a friend, and he was friendly to everyone. Condolences to Gwen and the family.

A good many years have passed since Central's sixth grade where we first met and became fast friends, a relationship sustained throughout these years. In Utah and Nevada, we doubled-dated, fished, hunted, and camped together. In 1964 we left Utah to join L.V.P.D., residing in the same apartment complex for a couple years with our growing families. 25 years ago I left L.V. after my retirement and our friendship continued with visits or camping whenever possible. Arvis is fondly remembered as a friend who was always available and never too busy to lend a helping hand. He will always be the good friend one is fortunate and proud to have had in your life. Our love and prayers are with Gwen and family. We miss you, friend.

Our hearts are with the entire family during this time. My wife and I met Arvis & Gwen for the first time around Christmas 2017. What a man! What a life! So kind, witty and a great sense of humor. We talked about our common bond. We're so sad that we didn't get to see him this year but pray that we will all be together with dear Arvis again. God bless him and his loved ones.

We didn"t know him long but enjoyed the visits we had with him in Ely, Nevada. The way he cared for the local Humming Birds and set out the feeders daily and the experiences he had with the birds were all very interesting to us. We will miss him as a neighbor. Our prayers are with you now.

Arvis, you were always so kind to this kid when I was a rookie....I cherished our friend ship over the years we worked together. If I ever had a work related question I could count on you to provide the best advice. I truly appreciated all that you did for me. I also loved the time we spent talking about old times when you worked the front desk in the bureau... RIP my friend.

A seasoned and honest police officer who trained a lot of young Police recruits with his experience and calm personality. I never heard a bad word about Arvis, whom we will greatly miss. May your family carry on your examples in life.
