CHRISTINE CUMMINS Christine Anne Cummins, of Henderson, passed away February 12, 2018. She was born April 23, 1959, to Max Herman Riley and Marjorie Carol Barraclough, in North Platte, Nebraska, the youngest of five children. She attended elementary schools in Manhattan Beach, California, and attended Aviation High School, where she was active at school in sports and yearbook staff. Chris loved the school environment and had a love of people and education that she maintained her entire life. She graduated Aviation High School in 1977. Chris and her girlfriends went on a trip to Europe sleeping in youth hostels and seeing all the sights. Chris met her husband, Andy Cummins, and they were married seven months later November 25, 1978, at the Manhattan Beach Community Church. In 1987, her family moved to Kingman, Arizona, where they raised their young family. Christine was a substitute teacher and served two terms on the Kingman Elementary School Board, stepping down when they moved to Big Creek, California. Chris was active in Kingman in recreational volleyball, softball, her social sorority and was an active member of Kingman's Operation Prom Grad. She raised her children, worked and attended Mohave Community College graduating with an associate degree. In 2000, the family moved to Big Creek, California. Chis started substitute teaching at Sierra High School and later became the Native-American Liaison. Her mother became ill, so the family moved to Henderson to be near her. Chris was a substitute teacher at Basic High School for 10 years and was later hired as a Special Education Assistant scheduling meetings and tracking student needs. Christine is survived by her husband, Andy; children, Justin, Christopher and Sara; five grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler, Harper, Booker and Faith; brother, Michael; and sisters, Patricia and Roberta. We miss her smile and caring love so much. Celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway.
