JEROME YOUNG SR. Jerome A. 'Jerry' Young, vice president, Business Development – International Game Technology (IGT), went to be with his Lord Dec. 4, 2006, in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 18, 1950, in Cleveland. Jerry has been with IGT and its subsidiary companies since June 1986. Prior to joining IGT, Jerry served as deputy director, Operations for the Ohio Lottery Commission. Prior to that, he served four years as assistant manager, Data Processing for the City of Cleveland. Jerry's start in the business world began in 1974 when he joined IBM Corporation as a marketing representative after graduating from The Ohio State University with a bachelor of arts degree in political science. While with IGT, Jerry held numerous positions which have included director of Corporate Development and later vice president of Sales and Marketing for IGT's former lottery subsidiary, Syntech International. He later held a similar position with IGT, as well as vice president of Lottery Products and Government Affairs. Prior to his current position, Jerry served as vice president of Public Gaming from April 1, 2002 through June 30, 2004. Jerry had responsibility for IGT's Market and New Business Development for IGT gaming and system products throughout North America. In addition to providing leadership at IGT, Jerry was an active member of the Las Vegas community, supporting numerous civic and charitable organizations. He served on the Board of the Las Vegas Catholic Charities. He was also an active member of Sigma Pi Phi, Delta Theta Boule, Las Vegas Chapter and a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Theta Pi Lambda Chapter. He is survived by his loving wife, of 27 years, Margaret; son, Jerome Jr.; his daughters, Jessica, Jennifer and Judith; grandson, Joseph; granddaughter, Jianna; sisters, Joyce Thomas, Janet Young, Janice Young-Brown; brother, John Young; and a host of nieces and nephews and cousins in Ohio, Georgia and California. Visitation will be two days from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, and Thursday, Dec. 7, at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., in Las Vegas. Funeral services and burial will then be held in Cleveland. A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, here in Las Vegas at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nevada Cancer Institute, 10441 W. Twain Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89135 in Jerry's name.
