Norma Kinman Obituary

NORMA KINMAN Norma Jean Kinman, of Las Vegas passed away Sept. 24, 2010. She was born Sept. 6, 1926, in Petersburg, Ind. In 1945, she married Clester C. Kinman, also of Petersburg, and in 1948, they decided to move West. They lived for awhile in Colorado and New Mexico while raising a family. In 1966, they moved to Las Vegas. "Jean" was an experienced bookkeeper and secretary/clerk and in 1972, she began employment with Central Telephone Company. She held various clerical positions there, and retired in 1989. During her time at Centel, she was an active member of ABWA (American Business Women's Association). Jean and her husband enjoyed 39 years together filled with many activities, but mostly with the Shriners. She was a member of the Shriners Daughters of the Nile, and then Honored Ladies after her husband passed away in 1984. Jean enjoyed and participated in many things in life, camping, bowling, golfing, gardening, cooking, sewing, painting, traveling and many projects she was always busy with and never afraid to tackle. However, what she enjoyed most was the time spent with her family and their get togethers. Jean was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers; and one sister. She is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, Dianne and Louie of Mary Esther, Fla., Vicki and Dan Sromalla of Las Vegas, and Linell and Ed Owen of Las Vegas. She was blessed with a large family of six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren (with two more due in December); and three great-great-grandchildren; and is also survived by her brother, Wayne Stone, who still lives in Petersburg, Ind. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, followed by a service, both at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N. A reception will follow at the Masonic Memorial Temple, 2200 W. Mesquite Ave. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Bunkers Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road. Remembrances may be made to the Shriners Transportation Fund for the children.
