Shannon Bybee Obituary

Shannon L. Bybee, 65, of Las Vegas, died September 18, 2003. He was born on August 29, 1938 in Tropic, Utah and resided in Las Vegas for 27 years. He was a College of Hotel Administration professor and the director of the International Gaming Institute. He was also a professor of the William F. Boyd School of Law. Shannon served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a founding member of the International Association of Gaming Attorneys and a former president of the Nevada Council on Problem Gambling. He was a member of the Gaming Control Board of Nevada from 1971 to 1975 and a former military policeman at West Point. Shannon is survived by his wife, Norma Reid Bybee; his daughters, Kelli (Clint)Poll of Layton, Utah and Erin (Joey) Belanger of Huntington Beach, Calif.; his sons, Sean Bybee of Longport, N.J., Reid (Jennifer) Bybee of Egg Harbor Township, N.J. and Brendan Bybee of San Francisco, Calif.; his brothers, Patrick (Beverly) Bybee of Salem, Ore. and Evan (Tamra) Bybee of Orem, Utah; his sister, Molly (Tom) Adams, Absecon, N.J.; and 12 grandchildren. Visitation from 4 p.m. to 7:50, Sunday, September 21, at Palm Mortuary, 1600 So. Jones. Visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with service at 11 a.m., both at Monte Cristo Chapel, at Monte Cristo and Oakey. An educational fund will be formed in Shannon's name.
