James "Jack" Schmelzle

1932 - 2022

James "Jack" Schmelzle, age 89, of St. Clair Shores, MI passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2022. He was born November 5, 1932 in Detroit, MI to the late Lloyd and Mae (nee: Goike) Schmelzle. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Linda Schmelzle; loving grandsons, Jimmy Schmelzle (Jenn) and Joshua Schmelzle (Holly); and great grandsons, Colt, Grant, and James. He will also be missed by his cousins, Joan Weigand, Judith "Cookie" Hawkins, and Nancy Reid. Jack is preceded in death by his caring wife Rose Marie and son Jim. Visitation will be held Monday, April 11, 2022 from 3-8 p.m. with a military honors ceremony at 4 p.m. and a Rosary service at 7 p.m. in A.H. Peters Funeral Home (20705 Mack Ave. Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236). A Mass for Jack will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at 10 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church (22412 Overlake Street, St. Clair Shores, MI 48080). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Bonaventure Monastery, 1820 Mount Elliott Street, Detroit, MI 48207.
