Joyce Westby
Sept. 13, 1951 - April 22, 2023
WAUNAKEE - Joyce Westby (formerly Joyce Kelly), age 71, passed away on April 22, 2023, at home in Waunakee, WI, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
She was born to Verle "Jake" and Esther (Mindham) O'Kane on September 13, 1951, in Boscobel, WI. She graduated from Dodgeville High School and Arizona State University, and worked in various roles in the medical and education fields, most recently for the UW School of Medicine.
After retiring, she enjoyed visiting her daughter, Erica, in California and her granddaughters, Vivienne (lovingly called Joyce's twin), Lillian, and Corinne, in Colorado; taking walks with her longtime partner, Pat; and tending to her many plants. Joyce was a passionate and kind mother, partner, daughter, sister, and friend. She earned the role as the favorite aunt to her nieces and nephews during their early ages, and was diligent in capturing many family memories via photos and videos.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Erica Kelly; her partner, Pat Slattery; Pat's son, Sean and wife Michelle and their three daughters; Pat's daughter, Lauren; sisters: Judy Fuller, Janet Klosterman, and Jo (Mike) Mitchell; stepdaughter, Jennifer Barlow and her family; and many nieces and nephews, family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenny; sister-in-law, Pat; and brother-in-law, John Fuller.
There will be no service, per Joyce's request.
