Bryan Monroe Obituary

Bryan D. Monroe

September 5, 1966 - April 13, 2022

Remembering Bryan Douglas Monroe on his birthday. Bryan was born in Wheatridge, Colorado on Labor Day, September 5, 1966 to Nancy and Alan "Randy" Hughes. He liked joking about his Labor Day birth.

When Bryan was 2 1/2 years old his father passed away of cancer. Bryan lived and attended school in Westminster, Colorado. In 1975 he moved with his mom and sister to Medford. In 1977 his mother married Ralph Monroe. After a step-father adoption in 1978 Bryan changed his last name to Monroe.

Bryan attended Medford schools from 1975-1985. After graduating from Medford Senior High he entered the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. He graduated in 1989 and made Washington his forever home.

Bryan worked in the Biotech field for over 30 years in laboratories, management and consulting. He contributed to science and medicine through his work on cancer drugs, cell therapies, fuscion therapies, blood factors and HIV. His career took him all over the world where he was recognized as "Hawaiian Shirt Guy" due to his recognizable Hawaiian shirts. He was a people person and liked to speak in front of groups on a vast array of topics.

He passed away at his home in Kingston, Washington on April 13, 2022. He loved the community of Kingston where he had resided for over 21 years. A memorial service was held in Washington May 21, 2022.

Bryan's amazing smile, sense of humor and love for his family will be missed by his wife, Micki Monroe, mom, Nancy Monroe, sister, Kimberly Howitt-Ross(Chuck), half-brother, Curtis Hughes(Awilda) step-siblings Cristi Remick(Michael), Melanie Sam(Paul) and Scott Monroe(Bill Carney), nephews Lance Howitt, Blaine Howitt(Katie) Jeremy Ross and great niece Nina Howitt. Also his beloved dogs Luna, Pixie and Gibbs and many relatives, friends and colleagues. Preceding him in death was his dad Ralph Monroe, grandparents, cousins and nephew.

Remember Bryan when you do a random act of kindness, walk on the beach or enjoy a good snuggle with your dogs.

You should have been here to turn 58.... I should have been able to call you and sing our silly birthday song.
You weren´t here, just me,just me missing you.
I would give anything for your two hour phone calls.
My heart still feels empty
I miss you my B

My Dearest Bryan
There are no words to accurately describe how deeply I miss you in my life. We were such a blessed pair, so much better than just a Big Sister and her Little Brother .
Never ever thinking I would go the last part of my life without you. It´s a crushing feeling that comes across my chest.. it´s an empty sink in my stomach, when I think "I need to tell Bryan that" or a song comes on that I know we loved. Music was always a huge connection and laughing at the same movie quotes over and over.
I miss that full bold laugh of yours. I miss phone calls that lasted for hours sometimes. I´m so very thankful I have so many messages saved. I go back to them to hear your voice . As for now, that´s all I have
For always
Sissy
