Helene Cyr Obituary
1926 - 2016
WATERVILLE - Helene G. Cyr, 90, died May 6, 2016, at home in Waterville. She was born Feb. 8, 1926, in Waterville. She was the daughter of Placide and Elise (Pelletier) Gagne. She graduated from Mount Merici Academy in 1944 and from Sisters Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. She was Pediatric Supervisor following graduation. After raising five children, she worked as a part-time RN in Med-Surg Unit at Seton Hospital. She retired due to ill health but continued her nursing profession on a volunteer basis in the Prenatal Clinic at Seton Unit for a five year period.
Helene was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Richard F. Cyr; one sister Elaine Gagne formerly of Biddeford, and one brother, Robert D. Gagne. She is survived by her children, Richard F. Cyr, Jr. of Waterville, Elaine Jones of Fairfax, Va., Denise Lord of Falmouth, Julie Cyr of Belfast, and Michelle Cyr of Waterville; one sister-in-law Mrs. William (Cecile) Pasha of Waterville; 10 grandchildren, Jules & Miles Jones, Samuel & Jackson Lord, Forbes & Nathan Horton, Ella & Julian Gallo, and Hannah & Grace Skoczenski; and five great-grandchildren, Max and Hendrix Horton, Eli and Declan Lord, and Finnegan Duffy.
A Mass will be held on Thursday, May 19 at 10:00 at Notre Dame church in Waterville. Memories and condolences may be offered to the family at www.directcremationofmaine.com.
Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the American

I worked with Helene on the evening shift at Seton back in the late 70's.
She was a perfect example of what a caring nurse should be. She was the ultimate professional! I could not have asked for a better coworker.
She always spoke so lovingly of her family.

To the family of Helene Cyr
Mrs. Cyr was a great influence on my life when I served as a candy striper at Seton Hospital, 3rd floor many years ago (late 70's). I would say that under her watchful eye, I, as a young teenager, developed my first real sense of responsibility in this world and also my appreciation and deep rooted respect for the elderly and infirm. I am sorry to have lost touch with her, and hope that her long life was filled with love and happiness. My condolences to her family.
