Helene Hayden Obituary
1929 - 2016
MADISON - Helene Hermine (Kain) Hayden, 86, of Madison, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, in Athens, surrounded by her loving family. Helene was born on Dec. 7, 1929, in Vienna, Austria, the daughter of Josef and Julie (Schifauer) Kain.
She met a handsome young man who was serving in the United States Army in Vienna during World War II. They moved to the United States to begin a beautiful life together. She married the love of her life, Allie Richard Hayden, in August of 1948. After he passed away a short 24 years later, she said that she could never remarry because no man could compare.
Helene worked for Norwork Shoe Company for 32 years, and later was employed at New Balance Shoe until her retirement.
She enjoyed reading, sewing, going shopping, quilting, and was a member of a quilting group who made beautiful quilts and donated them to local nursing homes.
Helene was predeceased by her husband, Allie R. Hayden; a son, Richard K Hayden; a sister, Martha Kampe; and a brother, Josef Kain.
She is survived by her son James J. Hayden and his wife Linda of Madison; two sisters, Steffy Deelman of Germany, and Christine Pradel and her husband Carlos of Florida.
Helene leaves behind eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016, at 11 a.m. in Mount Rest Cemetery in Athens. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Giberson Funeral Home, Madison.

You were a sweet wonderful woman!! I had many wonderful conversations with her at family gatherings & whenever we visited her!! She definately told it like it was!!!!!!!

I'm so very glad that I had the chance to meet this lovely lady. I'm so glad that we got the chance to take her out to eat and visit family members that I'm very blessed to have gotten to meet. We will miss you very much. We love you!
