John A. Parker
1957 - 2015
READFIELD - John A. Parker, 58, of Main Street, died unexpectedly on Thursday, July 2, 2015, at his home. He was born in Augusta on March 4, 1957, the son of John and Esther (McGuire) Parker. John graduated from Cony High School in 1975 and attended the University of Oklahoma.
He was co-owner of Public Information Resource, Inc. in Readfield since 1998.
John was a thoughtful and generous person who touched the lives of many. He did extraordinary volunteer work at the Readfield Transfer Station. He loved entertaining and spending time with friends. He enjoyed boating and fishing. John was an avid gardener and a talented self-taught artist, spending hours every week drawing and painting.
He was predeceased by his parents John and Esther Parker. John will be missed by his partner of 34 years, Kenneth Keene of Readfield; five siblings, Pamela Bean and her husband Alan of Augusta, Ann Parker and her husband David Tobie of Mount Vernon, Sheila Parker and her partner Steven Bowers of Winthrop, Steven Parker and his wife Micheal of Augusta, and David Parker of Portland. He will also be missed by his faithful canine companions Baxter, Betty and Mikie; and several nieces, nephews; and cousins.
In accordance with John's wishes, there will be no visiting hours or service. Arrangements are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop, where memories, condolences and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the website at

Ken.....I am so very sorry to learn about John's passing. What a shock. He was always so kind and pleasant. He used to bring me home baked treats at Christmas time. Such a kind and beautiful soul.
