He was born in Arlington, Mass., Nov. 28, 1927, the son of Archibald and Clara Alice (Clarke) Crosby. He was educated in the schools of Arlington and married Natalie Russell Sept. 21, 1952, in Beverly, Mass.
As a young man, Robert worked for himself in Massachusetts, upholstering furniture. He then worked for Norrwock Shoe Co. in Skowhegan and later for New Balance, where he retired from.
He was a member of the Skowhegan Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses of Madison. He enjoyed studying and discussing the Bible, and tinkering in his garage.
Robert is survived by his wife of 58 years, Natalie Crosby of Norridgewock; a daughter, Virginia R. Mosher and her husband, L. William, of Lewiston; three sons, Charles R. Crosby and Steven R. Crosby, both of Skowhegan, and Douglas R. Crosby and his wife, Michele, of Norridgewock; three grandsons, Robert P. Crosby of North Dakota, Neal R. Crosby and his wife, Gillian Fitzgerald, of Winslow and Robert Mosher of Lewiston; three granddaughters, Devon Espinoza of Texas, Dayna Crosby of Manchester, and Cassidy Crosby of Norridgewock; five great-grandchildren, Brandon Lee, Breanna, Phoenix, Zoe, and Grace; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 17, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1252 Lakewood Road, Madison. At the request of the family, there will be no visitation hours.
