Warren Balgooyen also served as an adjunct professor of ecology at Marymount College in the early 80s. He was an inspiration to his students, who enjoyed visits to Teatown and his breadth of knowledge that he shared so enthusiastically. He made an indelible mark.

Our hearts go out to the entire Balgooyen Family in the loss of such an amazing person. My husband Fritz, helped out at Teatown and helped build the original Boat House. Warren was a pleasure to work with, and knew so much about nature. Our sons, Peter and Michael have such wonderful memories of their visits to Teatown and now take their children there.
We often have talked about Warren and wondered if he still was in Maine, but know now that he is looking down on us and smiling, especially, when seeing the vast number of people that he is still affecting with the beauty of Nature at Teatown.
God bless him and his entire family.

It should be known that as a kid growing up on Spring Valley Rd (Teatown) in the 60's and early 70' s that I was the luckiest kid ( along with all the others kids in the immediate area) as we had are very own Pail Bunyon ( no ox but Patches the goat was a great substitute). For us kids Warren was our guide through those early years and my life's journey was set it the right direction by him. I idolized him and why I never saw him again after he moved to Maine I never forgot him. My condolences to his family.

Margorie, so sorry for your lose. I think Warren was the first person to show me and my father Chief Katonah's gravesite. May he now be resting in those grand woods of his dreams.

Marjorie and Bruce, my brother John and I are so sorry for your loss. Although Warren was gone from John Jay by the time we got there, he was always part of the "family". May his love of the world around him and his loving care for the environment inspire others.

I remember Warren's love for history, the tunes he could whistle, his willow tree project, the Grange and of course, his "Wishing Well Farm" . I send my condolences to his wife and their family and I wish them peace.
