Bill drove taxi for many years and was a newspaper carrier, who took great pride in his knowledge of the Gardiner/Hallowell/Augusta area.
He faithfully took jaunts to the White Mountains several times a year throughout his life. His many passions were listening to the "scanner," following NASCAR and rooting for the Red Sox.
He is survived by his sisters, Violet Bates and her husband, Keith Gilpin, and Laurie Gagne and her husband, James; his niece, Theresa Willey, of South Berwick; two nephews, Spc. Nicholas Gagne, of Fort Carson, Colo., and Eric Gagne, of Memphis, Tenn.
At his request, there will be no funeral service. A memorial service with celebration of life will be held at a later date in Augusta.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta, who cared for Bill during his illness.

I have known "BIG" Bill pretty much my whole life. I got to know him alot more once he came to GB. I'll always remeber him when we have to set the clocks back or ahead since I was his watch fixer:) Bill will be missed.
