George Kenney Obituary
Kenney Sr, 85
BUXTON -- George William Kenney Sr., age 85, of No Such Road, passed away on Feb. 18, 2011 at Mercy Hospital.
He was born in Standish on Oct. 11, 1925, a son of Thomas and Gladys (Morton) Kenney.
George attended schools in the Sebago Lake area and went on to proudly serve his country in the US Army during WWII. During his service, George served as a heavy equipment operator and was stationed primarily in Italy.
For many years, George worked in maintenance at Stauffer Chemical. George enjoyed fishing, being in the outdoors in general, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary (Harmon) Kenney; children, George Kenney Jr. of Buxton, Michael A. Kenney of Fryeburg, David W. Kenney of Buxton, Barbara Charlton of Buxton and Brenda Kenney of Buxton; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Wednesday Feb. 23, from 3-4 p.m., followed by a service at 4 p.m., at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, located on the corners of Rts. 202 and 4A (13 Portland Rd.) in Buxton (Bar Mills). www.dcpate.com
Burial will be in the spring at Dow's Corner Cemetery in Standish.
