Bickford, 41
LEWISTON - Mark William Bickford, 41, of Auburn passed away after a courageous battle with cancer with his loving wife and family by his side on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005.
Mark was born in Lewiston on Aug. 4, 1964, a son of Walter E. and Joyce M. (Welch) Bickford. He attended Auburn schools and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1982.
Currently, he was working at Tambrands Inc. as a mechanic.
During Mark's younger years, he was very active in the little league program, through this he received various awards for outstanding sportsmanship and for being an all around player.
Some of the awards that he received were the Jimmy Pomerleau Award in 1979, he was an A.S.L.L. Senior Division Winner, and in 1995, he took first place in the State Tournament All Events Champion Handicap Division.
Mark loved to bowl, especially with his wife, brothers, and in-laws. He was a member of the A.B.C. American Bowling Congress, recently changed to U.S.B.C. (United States Bowling Congress).
He also loved to play golf, for years he had a membership at Spring Brook Golf Course, and just last weekend, he was brought to a special tournament where he got an eagle.
Mark also recently attended a Red Sox vs Yankees game at Fenway Park where he received an autographed baseball by David Ortiz on July 24, 2005.
Mark was predeceased by his father, Walter E. Bickford in 1999, and a sister, Sharon Bickford in 1951.
Mark is survived by his loving wife, Catherine 'Cathy” Anne (Goulding) Bickford of Auburn whom he married on Oct. 23, 2004; his daughter, Kristina Bickford; his mother, Joyce M. (Welch) Bickford of Auburn; father- and mother-in-law, James E. Jr. and Joan Goulding of Auburn; his five brothers, Steven and wife, Elaine Bickford of Auburn, Neil Bickford of Minot, Bruce and wife, Marjorie Bickford of Auburn, Keith Bickford of Lewiston, and David and wife, Trudy Bickford of Auburn; a brother-in-law, James E. Goulding III and wife, Angeliec of Auburn; many aunts and uncles; his nine nieces and nephews, Megan, Lisa, Eric, Scott, Adam, Brian, Carrie, Sharon, and Avery, as well as many cousins, and lots of very special friends.
Visitation will be held at The Fortin Group in Auburn on Saturday, Aug. 20 from 4-8 p.m. A funeral service will be celebrated at The Fortin Group in Auburn on Sunday, Aug. 21 at 12 noon.
