Miyo Pinette Obituary
PORTLAND -- Miyo Pinette, 94, of Portland, passed away on May 1, 2014, at the Barron Center. She was born in Nagasaki, Japan on Feb. 2, 1920, the daughter of Monzo and Wai Watanabe. She was a survivor of the Nagasaki Atomic Holocaust in 1945.
Miyo enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, cooking and being a good wife and mother. As an atomic bomb survivor, Miyo was a life-long advocate in the fight against nuclear weapon proliferation.
Miyo was predeceased by her parents; and her husband, Henry J. Pinette Sr. She is survived by her son, Henry J. Pinette Jr. of Portland, her daughter, Sakura Obler and her husband Alan of South Portland; her step-children, Donna Market and her husband Michael of Gray, Dennis Pinette and his wife Jane of Westbrook; her granddaughter, Tatiana Obler; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, May 12, 2014, from 3 to 7 p.m., at Coastal Cremation Services, 471 Deering Ave., Portland. To share condolences and memories with the family, please go to www.coastalcremationservices.com.
