Stanley Curtis Obituary

Stanley Ellis Curtis, 89

BRUNSWICK - Stanley Ellis Curtis, 89, died Monday, Aug. 22, 2005 at Hillhouse Assisted Living, Bath.

He was born in Boothbay Harbor, Feb. 29, 1916, a son of Alonzo W. and Charity Ellis Curtis. He graduated Morse High School, Class of 1934.

He married Lucille St. Pierre, in Pascagoula, Miss., Dec. 15, 1939.

After high school, Mr. Curtis was employed by Bath Iron Works and later with Ingalls Shipbuilding Company of Pascagoula, Miss. He also held positions as assistant divisional superintendent of fabrication at Jered Industries in Brunswick, Ga., and was production superintendent for McClosky Shipbuilding in Tampa, Fla.

After his shipbuilding career, Mr. Curtis received a Law Degree from LaSalle University and became engaged in real estate sales and consultation in both Brunswick and Harpswell. He was also a Justice of the Peace.

He was a charter member of the Brunswick Lodge of Elks.

Mr. Curtis enjoyed traveling, reading, hunting and golf. In 1988, he shot a hole-in-one at the Purpoodock Golf Course, Cape Elizabeth.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Richard Curtis and Alonzo Curtis; and a sister, Ruth Hutchins.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille Curtis of Brunswick; and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private.
