Stanley Lane Obituary

Stanley E. Lane Jr., 58
SACO -- Stanley E. Lane Jr., 58, of Saco, passed away early Wednesday morning, June 8, 2011, at his residence.
He was born in Biddeford on Aug. 23, 1952, the son of Stanley E. Sr. and Meribah Roberts Lane. He graduated from Thornton Academy, class of 1970.
His work history is only part of his story. He started working in a band (Sweet Grease) after high school. He played in several bands while working in retail at Erebus, New England Music, Chess King and The Men's Shop. After we started a family Stan left retail for Nike in Saco where he found his love of computers; he became a programmer and when Nike closed he spent many happy years as a programmer analyst at Damart in New Hampshire. The past several years he has been employed at Kennebunk Savings Bank. To come full circle he was also pleased to be in a band once again, playing guitar with JCW Experiment at the Kerryman Pub.
Stan will be lovingly remembered as a very unassuming man with a great sense of humor, strong love of family along with being loyal to his friends. He loved spending time at home with his family, most nights we were blessed with our own private concert while Stan played guitar or flute quietly in the background. His extent of knowledge was remarkable along with his memory; needless to say he won most trivia games.
Stan will be sadly missed by all his family; his wife and best friend, Carol; his cherished daughter Angie and her husband Ben Cook; his sister, Janet Guignard; his nieces, Nicole Leary and Keara Wagner, and his nephews, Arthur Guignard and Benjamin Wagner and Patrick Wagner.
Visiting hours will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday at Cote Funeral Home, corner of Beach and James Streets, Saco. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Saco. Arrangements are by Cote Funeral Home, Saco. To send private condolences to the family go to www.cotefuneralhome.com.

Stan was one of the first musical partners I ever had, and I still remember him telling me about this new guitarist - Eric Clapton, then playing me John Mayall's Blues Breakers. The Blues Project record too... What a wonderfully irreverent wit he had. I miss him.

Stan was a true and dear friend who kept me laughing with jokes and always had an ear to listen. It was a thrill to see him play at the Kerrymen with Carol and Angie smiling in support. I am terribly saddened to lose such a friend. Carol and Angie, I am so sorry for your immense loss. You will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.
