Cheryl L. Corbin

COLUMBUS: Cheryl Lynn CORBIN, 65, passed this life on Friday, July 24, 2015 in Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus after an extended illness.

Mrs. Corbin was born on Friday, July 21, 1950 in Mansfield and was a lifetime resident. Cheryl graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in the class of 1968 and a member of the Mitchell Chapel AME Church where she sang in choir and worked with the youth. She was employed with Oak Grove Manor for ten years leaving in 2005 when her health began to fail. In 2010 Cheryl moved to Columbus to be closer to her children. She was not only a grandmother to her own grandchildren but also to everyone else's. During her illness Cheryl kept a positive attitude by showering the children with love which they gave back to her.

Cheryl is survived by two sons: Melvin Antiwan (Rachel) Corbin Jr., Columbus, and Keith LaMonte (Teresa) Corbin, Sr., Lucas; two daughters: Stacy Corbin, Columbus, and Kawana Bonner, Cleveland; ten grandchildren; one great granddaughter; father: Robert Mathews, Mansfield; two sisters: Deborah Bonner, Marion, and Crystal Wright, Mansfield; and one brother: Reginald Bonner, Cleveland.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin A. Corbin, Sr.; mother, Peggy Bonner Austin; and a special nephew, Charles Mathews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, at 11:00 AM in the Mitchell Chapel A.M.E. Church with her pastor Minister Louise Jackson. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Mansfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, 2579 Tucker Rd. in Lucas from 3-7 p.m. daily till the day of service.
