Kendall Hobbs Obituary

Kendall Eastow Hobbs Jan. 16, 1927 - Nov. 5, 2016 Kendall E. Hobbs, age 89, of Lucas Valley, died at home on November 5th after a short illness. Maria Freitas Hobbs, his wife of 63 years, was by his side. Born and raised in New England, Ken was especially proud of his participation in the Army Language School at the University of Minnesota, where he learned Japanese in preparation for his service in Japan with the occupation forces following WW II. Ken went on to graduate from Yale University and Harvard Law School. He practiced law in San Francisco for many years, always pursuing justice and advocating for the underprivileged. He greatly appreciated the beauty of this world and was a staunch Democrat, a great storyteller, and a lover of cats, chocolate, ice cream, and a celebratory drink. Left to treasure his memory are wife Maria, five children: Amy (Charlie), Judith (Fred), Bill, Mary, and Ann; four granddaughters: Emily, Isabel, Olivia, and Teresa; and sister Jackie MacDavid (Louis) of New York. Ken will be greatly missed by all who knew this kind, honest, independent man. In accordance with his wishes, no memorial service will be held.

So many memories of Ken! Such a wonderful gentleman, with an undercurrent of fun and mischief. The entire Berg family sends their condolences.
My Mom would have loved seeing that he lived in Lucas Valley as opposed to San Rafael! She's looking down smiling about that!
