MARILYN KELLY Obituary

Marilyn Connolly Kelly Please, know that the light Marilyn Kelly brought to the world still shines, even though the Lord called her away last Thursday, October 14th, 2010 - - no doubt to add another Angel to his cadre. Marilyn loved life, people, and children. Blessed with abundant energy, cheer and kindness, she enjoyed the love and respect of everyone she knew. Her inspiration lives on. As a young woman, Marilyn moved to San Francisco from her birth place, Vallejo, California. With her good looks and charm she quickly became involved in the garment industry, working and modeling at Koret of California and Tammy Sports Wear. After putting in a stint at Barbary Coast Realty, she moved to the San Francisco Apparel Mart, leasing hundreds of showrooms to sales reps for clothing manufacturers and distributors. Eventually she worked at TravelSmith and RealManage in Marin County. Marilyn enjoyed socializing and was sincerely interested in the lives of all she came in contact with. But what brought her greatest joy and sense of purpose was the time she spent raising her son and participating in the enrichment of other children, whether at childcare centers where she worked, or just sharing child-raising experiences with her friends. Marilyn is survived by her husband, Michael, her son, Kyle, and her brother, Terry Connolly. A Memorial Service will be held at Green Valley Country Club in Green Valley, California on November 13, 2010, from 1:00-4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, you are invited to make donations in her honor to Greater Bay Area Make-a-Wish Foundation, 55 Hawthorne St., San Francisco, CA 94105.

Dear Mike and Kyle, David and I send you our deepest condolences and promise to keep Marilyn's spirit alive. I really barely knew her but loved her instantly. She was very genuine, lovely and very full of life -- and that is what I loved about her. I have the best memory of her when I first met her that I'll always cherish. God bless us all in living every moment of life, sharing our love just as Marilyn did. With love, Marilyn and David Paulus

Marilyn and I worked together at TravelSmith but we really became close friends after we left. We would talk on the phone for hours. I truly believe the world is a better place for the people who were lucky enough to have Marilyn in their lives. She was honest, caring, and funny, and she loved her family more than anything else. Mike and Kyle, God bless you both.

My dear friend, we had nearly 30 years of the most special of friendships...so much shared history enveloped in laughter and tears. What a fantastic mother to Kyle you've been. Alex always called you his second mom, and you were. You were an angel on Earth and now you are in Heaven.
Forever missed and always cherished,

"I also had the pleasure of working with Marilyn. She was both a colleague and friend. As both of our kids go to Drake, we would often compare notes on child-rearing. Always upbeat and positive, she will be greatly missed" - Greg Garcia (Fairfax, CA)
