RICHARD STEVENS HACKNEY

Richard Stevens Hackney Feb. 17, 1923~Feb. 28, 2010 Died unexpectedly at home on February 28th, He is survived by wife Bets, son Christopher, daughter Sarah Young, step son Chard Lowden, step daughter Julia Delaney, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Born in Minnesota, Rick served on a bomber crew in World War II, was shot down over Romania and decorated for valor. After the war, he immigrated to California and worked at Disney studios before leaving to attend the prestigious Art Center College of Design. He had a long career as a cartoonist/illustrator. With his brother Bill he created the syndicated comic strip "Sir Bagby". He was fond of travel, theater, both as actor and audience. and living in beautiful Marin. He enjoyed creative writing and his witty way with light verse was appreciated by all. We will miss him. Join us to celebrate his life at the Mill Valley Community center on March 28th at !:00 PM.
