Edward George Dotson

Marion - Edward George Dotson, 90, of Marion, Ohio died on January 25th, 2019. He was born on November 6, 1928 to Forrest and Rhea (Miller) Dotson in Zanesville, Ohio. Ed proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was stationed overseas for much of his service as a military policeman. He was a career long railroad man, working with the Erie Lackawanna Railroad beginning in 1948 and then with Conrail until he retired in 1989. Ed was also very involved in his church as a board member and trustee, as well the music program. He loved life; always had something funny to say and never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 61 years, Dorothy (Long) Dotson; his brother Richard and sister Winifred; and infant daughter, Pamela Sue. He is survived by two children, Patricia (Joe) McBeth and Timothy (Janine) Dotson, both of Springfield; two sisters, Judy Dendinger of Marion, Ohio and Mary Hudnut of Indiana; four grandchildren, Brynne (Luke) Bremer, Benjamin (Taylor) Dotson, Alyssa Dotson and Cady McBeth; one great grandson, Logan Bremer; countless nieces, nephews, family and friends. Services with be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the Marion Church of Christ in Christian Union, 1709 Bellefontaine Ave, Marion, Ohio. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11-1:00 pm prior to the service. Burial will be in Grand Prairie Cemetery immediately following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Marion CCCU Trustee fund at the address above. The family would like to thank Marion Manor Nursing Home and Kindred Hospice for their excellent and loving care. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent through www.littletonandrue.com

Ed was one of the nicest men I have ever met. I do not ever recall him having a bad day. He was always smiling, always happy, always polite, and always patient.He loved watching his home videos, and talking to us about anything and everything. We was "his girls", and we loved him. Ed was my grandma's neighbor at Marion Manor. He was always friendly and chatty and a real blessing. We enjoyed his fun holiday hats and cheerful smile! He will be missed by our family.

Taking care of Ed was such a joy . He would always have a smile on his face and brought and smile to your face. He would have his festive hats on . getting to know Ed and his family have brought so many memories that I will treasure forever . love and miss you Ed.
