Howard Hodges Obituary
Howard Gordon Hodges Sr., 85, of Axton, Va., passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021.
He was born on August 1, 1935, to the late George Dewey Hodges and Virginia Thomasson Hodges. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Jones Hodges; sisters, Dorothy Cardwell and Phoebe Leach; and brothers, Kenneth Hodges and Jack Hodges.
Mr. Hodges worked at DuPont for over 32 years and was a member of Fontaine Baptist Church.
He is survived by his spouse, Betty Lou Hopkins; daughters, Lisa Hodges Dodson (Tommy) of Danville, Va., and Judy Hodges Bussey (Herb) of Stoneville, N.C.; son, H. Gordon Hodges Jr. (Betsy) of Martinsville, Va.; stepdaughters, Lois Boliek (David) of Greensboro, N.C., and Laurie Jamison (Rick) of Winston-Salem, N.C.; sister, Nancy Hodges Stowe (Marshall); sister-in-law, Betty Jean Hodges of Ridgeway, Va.; brothers, Earl Hodges (Dorothy) of Collinsville, Va., and Glenn Hodges (Theresa) of Ridgeway, Va.; six grandchildren, Lauren, Dustin, Trey, Ryan, Alyssa, and Moriah; and three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Annalee, and Austin Howard.
All services will be private due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lisa, Judy, and Gordon,
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your father. I know how difficult it is to loose those you love. Praying that God will provide you all with strength and guidance during the upcoming months. I always loved when we ran into them at Clarence's on Sunday after church Mom would talk with your mom like they hadn't seen each other in years. (They spoke the previous week.) You r dad was such a humble man and always wanted how it was working with Lisa. I always said good things Lisa. (LOL)

Prayers for all the family. We only knew Howard for a short time. I loved to hear him on Sundays tell me about working on his farm and how much he loved it. He truly will be missed.
