Carleton T. Woodring Jr.

Carleton Transue Woodring Jr., of Guilford CT., formerly of Easton and Bethlehem PA, died July 10th with his family by his side. Born to the late Judge Carleton Woodring and Margaret Bixler Woodring in Easton, Carleton was known as "Woody". He graduated from Yale University in 1957, and worked as a buyer at Gimbels in New York City. Carleton joined his family business, Orr's Department Store, as vice president. He left Orr's to join Sandra in starting Woodring Marketing. In 1980 Carleton became a real estate agent, with Caldwell Banker then with RE/MAX in Bethlehem. He enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels and the Appalachian Mountain Club. Carleton had a passion for opera and was a member of the Metropolitan Opera Club and the Wagner Society of New York City. Carleton is survived by his daughter Sarah Cooper and husband Carl Cooper of Guilford, CT; son Carleton Woodring III and wife Jenifer Whitten-Woodring of Lowell, MA; sister Sally Woodring and partner Marian LeConte of Hillsdale, NJ; brother Doug Woodring and wife Dellie Woodring of Tiburon, CA; and grandchildren: David and Margaret Cooper; Patrick and Alexandra Woodring. A memorial mass will take place at 10:30 AM Monday, July 16 at St. George's Catholic Church in Guilford, CT. He will be interred beside his wife in Holy Savior Cemetery in Bethlehem, PA. in November.
