Edward J. Eddy Hessinger, 82, formerly of E. Union Street, Whitehall, died Dec. 23 in Whitehall Manor. He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine I. (Janiger) Hessinger, who died on October 26, 2004. He was an electrical technician for Mack Trucks Inc., Allentown, for 40 years retiring in 1983. Born in Coplay, he was the son of the late Charles and Theresia (Tamerler) Hessinger. He was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, Whitehall. He attended Moravian College, where he played varsity football and was a member of the former Coplay Keystone Cops. He distinguished himself as a sergeant in the 13th Armored Division under General George Patton in World War II. He enjoyed travel, wood-working and tinkering. Survivors: Brothers, Walter A. of Downingtown, Alfred F. of Coplay; nieces, Denise, Marcy, Diane, Jeanne, Debbie; nephews, Barry, Walter. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Robert A. Hauke Funeral Home, 327 Chestnut St., Coplay. Call 9-10 a.m. Tuesday. Contributions: Whitehall Manor, c/o the funeral home 18037.
