Gary Werkheiser Obituary

Gary R. (Buck) Werkheiser, 77 years old of New Tripoli, passed away May 4, 2020 at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest. He was the husband of Diane Sittler-Werkheiser. They celebrated 53 years of marriage in February. Born in Fountain Hill, PA on January 2, 1943 he was the son of the late Kenneth and Evelyn Werkheiser. He was a graduate of Allentown High School, class of 1960.

He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1964-1966 and was honorably discharged in 1970. He started his own construction company and later in 1986 he pursued a new business becoming owner/operator of Alert Security Systems. In 2007, after 21 years, he decided it was time to retire.

He was a lifetime member of Lehman Lake Rod and Gun Club Bushkill, PA. He truly enjoyed his trips to the club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He took his annual fishing trips with family to Canada and of course guy trips to Canada and Oneida. He was also a member of Ontelaunee Rod and Gun Club, the American Legion and New Temple Lodge.

In addition to his wife Diane, he is survived by his children Jodi Crawford and her husband Daryl of New Tripoli, PA and son Jason Werkheiser and his wife Isabelle of Nesquehoning, PA. Also, his grandchildren Erin, Riley and Molly Crawford and brother in-law Dewey Masenheimer, his sister Karen passed away last September.

Due to these difficult times in all our lives, his wife, children and grandchildren had a private time with him with the help from all of the brave doctors, nurses, chaplain, etc. via conference call. Buck would want all those (extended family and friends) to raise a glass, reflect on his life as you know him and wish him God Speed.

Condolences to the family.
The irony of being a good conversationalist is that talking isn't the most important piece; listening is what makes you memorable.
He was an excellent conversationalist and i will miss him dearly.

I met Bucky in 1991 from a newspaper ad I worked for him for 17 year before buying his business so he could retire and enjoy hunting and fishing. His kindness, generosity and humor was second to none no words can express how much I will miss him fish on Bucky fish on !!!

One of my favorite memories that always brings a chuckle is when, after your parents built the new home on Greenleaf Street, you, Karen and I would have to pick 100 dandelions in order to go swimming at Cedar Beach. And Uncle Ken always checked to make sure we had the roots! God bless all of you in this time of sorrow. I am sure Buck would want all of you to remember him with love and laughter in your hearts.....

Diane, Jodi and Jason,
We were so sorry to hear of Bucky's passing. We have nothing but good memories of him ... we only wish it hadn't been so long since we had seen him, and all of you. We would have liked to attend a memorial service for him, but with the current situation we understand if that doesn't happen. We will keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers and wish for you good memories and peace.
Love,
Jim and Ellen

Dear Diane and family, so very sorry to learn of Buck's passing. He installed our alarm system back in '87. He and you were always so helpful and friendly ... we still have the same system today. May he rest in peace and may your fond memories be a help at this most difficult time. God Bless
