Vincent Vince Herman, 81, of Port St. Lucie, FL, formerly of Emmaus, PA passed away on Monday, October 14, 2013. Vince was born in Allentown, PA on September 17, 1932. He graduated from Allentown Central Catholic High School in 1950 and graduated from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management in 1960. Thereafter, he graduated from the Academy of Advanced Traffic in Philadelphia, PA. Vince was married to Madeline Louise (Pietrobon) Herman on June 18, 1955. They were married for 58 wonderful years. He served with the United States Army in Seoul, Korea, with Army Intelligence during the Korean War. Vince was employed by Pennsylvania Power & Light company for 35 years having served as its Traffic Manager until his retirement in 1995. He was also President of Palace Gardens Restaurant in Whitehall, PA and was a true entrepreneur having owned multiple and various businesses throughout his life. He was passionate about construction, enjoyed travel with his family and friends, playing cards with friends and ballroom dancing with his wife as members of the Cotillion Dance Club and USA Dance. He began playing Santa Claus for Sears in Lancaster, PA in 1966 and enjoyed it so much he continued to play Santa throughout his life for different organizations, Christmas parties and for children and family parties until 2007. He was a member of the Traffic Club of the Lehigh Valley, the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. During his life he also organized Spooknacht in Lancaster, PA, managed the Miss Lancaster County Pageant, was a leader for the Boy Scouts of America, and was involved in Junior Achievement and Junior League Football. He loved and enjoyed spending time with his family and was passionate about life. Survivors: Vince is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Madeline; his son, Glenn Herman, married to Patricia (Kunkel), of Verona, NJ; his daughter, Colleen Dodson of Allentown, PA; his daughter, Denise Wester, married to William Wester, of Emmaus, PA; his five grandchildren, Renee (Herman) Garber of Durham, NC, Lauren (Herman) Thompson of Culloden, WV, Felicia (Dodson) Kurcharczuk and Thomas Vincent Dodson of Allentown, PA and Julia Wester of Emmaus, PA; his great-grandchildren, Owen Thompson and Lucy Garber; and his sisters, Rita Dougherty, married to Donald Dougherty of Allentown, PA and Kathleen Worman, married to Charles Worman, of Port St. Lucie, FL. Vince was predeceased by his parents, Vincent Aloysius Herman and Magdelen (Erschen) Herman and his brothers, James A. Herman and Daniel J. Herman. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 19, 2013, at 1 p.m. in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1040 Flexer Ave., Allentown, PA. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Krocks Road, Allentown. Calling hours will be on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the ODonnell Funeral Home, 908 Hanover Ave., Allentown, PA 18109.
