Arthur Fronberg , 90, of Sunnyvale passed peacefully on April 12th at Morning Star Senior Living in Sparks Nevada. Art was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Irene and Arthur Fronberg Sr. The family relocated to Redwood City, California where Art attended grade school and graduated from high school. Arthur trained as an electrician. It was at this time that Art met his true love, Betty May Bell, who just happened to be his next door neighbor. World War II was in full swing and Arthur enlisted in the Army Air Corps. His passion was to fly and perhaps be a B-17 gunner, but eye problems kept this dream from becoming a reality. He always said that had he become a gunner on a B-17, us children would probably not be here. Never the less, Art trained as a glider mechanic and served prepping and repairing gliders and C47s in the European theater of operation, stationed mainly in England. Art was very proud of his military service, attaining the rank of sergeant. His honorable service was from 12-29-1942 to 12-5-1945. He earned a good conduct medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, American Campaign Metal, Distinguished Unit Badge, and World War II Victory Medal TWX.
After the war, Art came back to Redwood City, California and married Betty Bell. Art and Betty had four children, Marty, Karen, Brad and Lisa. As a civilian, Art pursued a career as an electrician. At one time he owned his own business. Art was a staunch supporter of the IBEW Unions and was a life long member. Some of Art's hobbies include camping, vacationing, fishing and bowling. He was meticulous as a carpenter, plumber, and of course electrician, building two mountain cabins.
Arthur was preceded in death by his loving mother Irene Davis, loving wife Betty Fronberg, and oldest son Martin Fronberg. He leaves behind three children, Karen Cayton, Brad Fronberg and Lisa Bucher. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Our loving father will be sorely missed. However, he is finally reunited in Heaven with his true love of 45 years… our mom.
Funeral Service with Honor Guard and celebration of Arthur's life will be held at Amador Memorial Cemetery on Saturday, May 3rd, starting at 11:00am for close friends and family.
