Elizabeth Irene "Betty" Wygant

Elizabeth "Betty" Irene Garrett Wygant passed away peacefully March 10, 2023 at age 92. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Robert Gaffers Wygant, and granddaughter Amy Elizabeth.Born March 6, 1931 in Pasadena CA to Dr. Garland & Dorothy Irene Garrett, M.D. Upon H.S. graduation she attended Pasadena city college and got a job as a secretary in Culver City at city hall. Shortly after moving north in 1963 to Campbell, CA she found employment with Campbell U.H.S.D. as summer school attendance secretary at Blackford H.S. from there she was able to secure the Dean's secretary opening at the new Westmont H.S. campus. Within the year she became Principal's secretary and enjoyed 34 memorable years at that position. Upon retirement, not one for sitting still, they traveled in the U.S. She took up ceramics and gardening and was well known for her green thumb. And after 80+ years found out that she enjoyed cooking after all and was able to brag about her culinary creations.She is survived by her son Garrett "Gary" Robert Wygant, wife Rene of Brookings OR, son Craig Thomas Wygant, wife Anna of Stockton, Grandson Garrett Arthur Wygant, wife Denise, their son Cillian of Half Moon Bay and Granddaughter Caitlin Marie Wygant of Stockton, CA.Services to be held at the California Veterans Cemetery in Seaside CA at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of San Joaquin, Stockton CA.
