John was my "big brother" growing up in Butler, and David was right in noting John as a shining example of Tom Brokaw's greatest generation. Janet & I always remember and value the times we shared. What amazed me more than anything else, was, with all his accomplishments, he always remained so humble and reserved. May God have mercy on your soul, my brother.

I have many fond memories of my Uncle John. He probably had the most impact on my career – strongly encouraging me to apply for a job at Lockheed. I applied and got the job. The on-the-job training and educational experiences helped to launch my career as a software engineer. As my wife and I started our family, Uncle John and Aunt June were the local grandparents as our parents lived out of the area. We shared many Christmas, Easter, and birthday celebrations with them. John was really good with the kids, and we enjoyed watching the slideshows of their travels. We have lots of fond memories.
