I was a member of the J-Town Lions a couple of years ago, & found Shyoko to be one of the friendliest, sweetest ladies. I truly enjoyed our conversations. She knew many of the families & people I grew up & went to school with in the Japanese community. Though 8 decades of life is a blessing, a lovely person like Shyoko passing leaves family & friends wanting more time to enjoy her warm & gentle spirit. Heartfelt condolences to Darrell & all her loved ones. We were all blessed to have enjoyed special time with her.

To Darrell and the family of Shyoko,
My sincerest sympathy for your very great and sudden loss.
I know that life will never be the same without her. I wish you joy in the midst of your sorrow as you remember all that Shyoko was to you and the remarkable ways that made her unique and dear to you.
I hope that the day will come when, as you think of her, you will be able to smile and feel joy that she was here and that your joy will outweigh the sorrow that she is gone.
My thoughts and prayers are with you in the days ahead.
With love,
Nancy Quong
