Carol S. Ewens
Carol S. Ewens, age 95, of Virginia, died Sunday, November 26, 2023, in Essentia Health-Virginia.
She was born April 11, 1928, in Minneapolis, the daughter of William and Hilda (Beaverson) Sanzenbach; was a graduate of Minneapolis Central High School and the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. Carol married Dr. George B. Ewens on September 15, 1951, in Minneapolis and they were longtime residents of Virginia. Carol was a member of Hope Community Presbyterian Church, Eshquaguma County Club, and PEO. She enjoyed playing tennis, golf, bridge, traveling, winters in Hawaii and Florida and summers at the cabin. Carol cherished the lifelong friends she met playing bridge. She especially enjoyed spending time with family.
Carol is survived by her sons: Thomas (Mary), David (Sandy) and John; daughter: Georgia (Dwight) Day; sister: Nancy Newman; grandchildren: Megan (Jim), Katherine (Joel), Stephen, Jonathan, and Lauren; five great-grandchildren: niece, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband: George.
A gathering time for family and friends will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Hope Community Presbyterian Church in Virginia. A brief, special tribute will take place at 11:30 a.m.
Interment will be at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery in Virginia.
Memorials are preferred.
