Evelyn Erickson Moscatelli
Evelyn Erickson Moscatelli, born Oct. 3, 1955, passed away July 20, 2023. She was born in Chisholm to Leonard and Mary Erickson, and grew up in Buhl, was very active in band and cheerleading, graduating in 1974.
She attended both Duluth Vocational School and St. Francis, graduating with a bachelor of science in nursing in 1988. She worked for many years at St. Luke's in the ICU and post coronary care, and later worked at Miller-Dwan in behavioral health utilization. She was a tireless caregiver and helped care for many people. Due to her diagnosis of Parkinson's, she retired in 2008, but still continued to care for her family and friends, once a nurse is always a nurse.
She married Jerry Moscatelli in 1980, and they moved to Duluth where they made their home for 38 years. They were involved in curling leagues and Evy enjoyed cooking, music, dancing, singing, and playing Trivial Pursuit. Evy was an avid runner. Her running career began with chasing Jerry around the state of Minnesota when they were dating. She completed several 5K's, half marathons and full marathons, one marathon of which she ran while pregnant with her son in 1995.
Her son Samuel was born Feb. 12, 1996, and she always felt he was her greatest accomplishment. Her face would light up in his presence. She was a fierce supporter of everything he did.
Evelyn fought Parkinson's fiercely for the later years of her life. She is now singing with the angels and welcomed into heaven with open arms.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Mary; a sister, Elsa; mother and father-in-law, Lorraine and Samuel; and brother-in-law, Sam.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Jerry; son, Sam; brother-in-law, Jim (Bunnie); siblings: Patty (Jerry), Alice, Peter (Karen), Edith, Steve (Rita); as well as several nieces and nephews and many friends.
