Frank Vovk

Frank (Francisek) Vovk, 95, of Minnetonka, formerly of Aurora, Minn., died Tuesday, December 5, 2023.

He was born June 23, 1928, in Spodnja Slivnica, Slovenia, to Fransicek and Katarina (Janezic) Vovk. He immigrated to the U.S. in August, 1949 and settled in Chisholm, Minn. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He was united in marriage on September 6, 1952, to Anita Vitali and together they raised six children.

Survivors include his children: Kathy Vansickle of Brainerd, Frank (Mary) Vovk of Hopkins, Mary (Tom) Rauenhorst of Crystal, Robert (Lori) Vovk of Coon Rapids, Therese (John) Mickelson of Minnetonka, Lisa Ochsendorf of Hugo; 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Slavka Sekirnik of Slovenia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 71 years, Anita; his parents; his brother Joze Vovk; and sisters, Marija Rozman and Annica Potocnic.

A memorial service and luncheon will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 9, at Washburn McReavy Funeral Home in Hopkins, Minn. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. The family requests no flowers or gifts, only your presence or prayers at the service. Private family interment will follow at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
