William (Bill) Waite
William (Bill) Waite died on Friday, September 15, 2023 at his home in Chisholm. He was 80 years old.
Bill was born in Minneapolis and raised in the Cooley mining location near Nashwauk. He attended Nashwauk High School, Bemidji State University and the University of Minnesota.
Throughout his life Bill was an avid outdoorsman who particularly enjoyed hunting waterfowl and grouse. He was also a passionate organic gardener. He took pleasure in countless adventures with his wife Kay including pub-hopping in Ireland, eating and drinking through Tuscany, and cruising the Danube through the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, and Hungary. Bill was also drawn to destinations closer to home including Montana; Savannah, Georgia; and Gettysburg, Pennsylvania among other locales.
But more than any adventure, Bill cherished his family. He is survived by Kay, his wife of 56 years; sons David, Jeffrey (Kathy), and Mark; granddaughters Sydney and Karlyn; sister Alison; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, William and Patricia; and brothers, Warren and Tom.
Bill's family thanks the exceptional staff at Fairview Healthline Home Care in Hibbing for their compassionate care during his last months of life. The family is particularly grateful to Zach, Sarah, Jean, and Hannah.
A private memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bill's name to Hibbing Fairview Healthline Home Care.
