Hugh Tupper Mitchum CHARLESTON - Hugh Tupper Mitchum, 89, of Charleston, South Carolina, died May 20, 2014. His Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 22, 2014 in the J. HENRY STUHR INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, 232 Calhoun Street at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday in Stuhr's Downtown Chapel from 10:30 a.m. until time of service. Hugh was born April 11, 1925 in Summerville, South Carolina, son of the late William Lawless Mitchum and Theresa Driggers Mitchum. He was the retired office manager for C & M Oil Company and a former member of St. Andrews First Baptist Church. He is survived by sisters: Ivey Mitchum Turley, Mt. Pleasant, SC, Inez Mitchum Locke, Charleston, SC, Silvine Mitchum Patierno, Charleston, SC, and Faye Mitchum Bolin (Kenneth), Ridgeville, SC; brother, Thad Mitchum (Sylvia); and numerous nieces and nephews. Hugh was predeceased by two sisters: Glady's M. Cade and Annie M. Williams and a brother Bernett W. Mitchum. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC, 29605 or St. Matthews Lutheran Church Capital Campaign Fund, 405 King Street, Charleston, SC 29403.
