TIPP CITY -- Clara Jean Sampson, 99, passed away on November 9, 2022, at Ohio's Hospice of Miami County's Hospice House. She was born on March 15, 1923, the first child of Harry and Piney Belle Schmitt, in Ironton, Ohio. Jean lived most of her life in Troy, Ohio, with her beloved husband, John, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Douglas Weikert.
Jean was a talented homemaker - she raised caring and responsible children, delighted her family with her cooking, and expressed her creativity through activities like knitting, sewing, and quilting. She had a great sense of humor and was a role model for living with friendship and kindness.
Jean was a resident at Randall Residence, Tipp City, Ohio, and was blessed by special friendships with several current and past staff members - we thank them all. We also thank Jean's Hospice nurse for her dedicated care.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Gayle Weikert, Troy, Ohio, her son, David Sampson, and his wife, Beverly, Greenville, South Carolina, and her much-loved grandchildren: Matt Weikert, and his wife, Carrie, Hilliard, Ohio, and Nathan Weikert, and his partner, Jaclyn Anderson, Los Angeles, California.
Jean will be deeply missed by her loving family.
There will be a private family service at a later date.
