Marcel Dupre Obituary

Marcel J. Dupre BELLINGHAM Marcel J. Dupre, 83, of Bellingham, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital, Westborough. He was the beloved husband of Louise W. (Bliss) Dupre for 64 years. Born in Lincoln, R.I., Nov. 27, 1924, a son of the late George and Eva (Belanger) Dupre, he was a resident of Bellingham for 56 years and formerly of Manville, R.I., where he was raised. He was the loving father of Suzanne and her husband, Robert Stearns, of Bellingham, Janice and her late husband, Roger "Fuzzy" Parenteau, of Bellingham, Deborah and her husband, Steve Champeau, of Blackstone and Denise and her husband, Brian Attwood, of Bellingham; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He also leaves his brother, Roger and his wife, Blanche Dupre, of Manville, R.I., and the late Raymond and Amie Dupre. Mr. Dupre was an engineer for more than 30 years at Draper Corp. in Hopedale, until their closing, and then continued with Rockwell International Corporation in Marion, S.C., until retiring in 1981. Mr. Dupre had several patents to his name while working at Draper Corp. Mr. Dupre was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, attaining the rank of corporal, and he received the American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal and three Overseas Service Bars. He was a lifelong member of VFW Post 7272 of Bellingham and a communicant of St. Blaise Church. Mr. and Mrs. Dupre were married April 26, 1944, in St. Charles Church, Woonsocket, R.I. He was devoted to his family and will be greatly missed. The funeral will be held Saturday, 8:30 a.m., from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 South Main St. (Rte. 126), Bellingham, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m., in St. Blaise Church, 1158 South Main St., Bellingham. Interment will be in St. Charles Cemetery, Blackstone. Visiting time is Saturday morning at the Funeral Home, 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Donations in memory of Marcel J. Dupre, to St. Blaise Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry, 1158 South Main St. Bellingham, MA 02019, would be appreciated.
