Donald Walter Scott, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 7, 2023 at his home in Bloomington. He was 78 years old.
Donald was born on October 18, 1944 in Mora, Minnesota to parents Wilmer and Elsie (Witt) Scott. He spent most of his growing up years on the family farm in Isle. He had many horses growing up and was a part of the saddle club. He had various jobs along the way including making butter at the creamery, driving milk truck for the Berry brothers, logging, and working for Walt Habeck on his farm.
Don graduated from Isle High School and started working for the Toro company in Bloomington. While working at Toro, Don was drafted into the US Army but was instead sent to the Marine Corp. He was honorable discharge after serving in northern Vietnam and he made it home to his family on Thanksgiving of 1970.
In December of 1971 Don married Monica Knupp and they moved to Robbinsdale. Don held other jobs over the years after Toro concluding his working career at St Paul's Lutheran church and school.
In retirement Don enjoyed being part of the Oliver Tractor club, mowing lawns for neighbors and family, visits up-north, going to farm auctions, and continuously harassing telemarketers with his quick humor. As a loyal Green Bay Packers fan, Don enjoyed several visits to Lambeau Field, even becoming a stock owner. Becoming a grandpa was truly the best part of his life and he was always there to support his three grandchildren in all their endeavors.
After being diagnosed in 2021, Don fought his battle with pancreatic cancer with his faith, positive outlook and humor, just as he lived his life. He will be dearly missed.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, wife Monica, and sister Wilma Berry.
He is survived by his daughter Lisa Rudquist (Michael Reynolds); grandchildren, Scott Rudquist, Sierra Rudquist, and Megan Rudquist; siblings, Delmer Scott, Judy Streed, Ruth Fladebo, and Hazel (Wes) Mohn; many other relatives and friends.
