Mario James Benitez

Mario James Benitez, 61, a native of Stockton, CA, and a long-time resident of Mobile, AL, passed away suddenly on October 20, 2025, in Mobile. He was born on November 11, 1963. He is survived by Helen Mott Benitez, his wife of 34 years; his beloved daughter Clara Benitez of Birmingham, AL; his mother Rose Caudillo Benitez of Sacramento, CA, formerly of Stockton, CA; his sister Rita Benitez of Fayetteville, AR; his sister Rosemarie Ruggieri (Jon) of Sacramento, CA; several nieces and nephews; and many dear relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his father Raymond Rios Benitez and his brother Raymond Rios Benitez Jr.
Mr. Benitez was a Marine Electrician at Austal USA for 12 years. At the urging of his wife and daughter, he started as an apprentice at the age of 49, the oldest person in his class. He was very proud of this accomplishment.
A memorial service will be held at Ascension Funeral Home, 1016 Hillcrest Rd, Mobile, AL, on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. The family will be available for visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Light refreshments will be available afterward.
