Edward O. Kearley, age 84, of Ceres, CA passed away on January 25, 2014 in Turlock.  Edward was born on a farm in 1929 near Buhl, ID to Paul & Vera Kearley.  He attended Elementary and High School in both Buhl and Wendell, Idaho.  He attended the University of Idaho from 1955-57, then moved on to Washington State University where he earned his degree in Veterinary Medicine.  He received his Masters Degree in Agricultural Chemistry from the University of Missouri in 1963, and during that time he taught in the Veterinary Physiology Dept.
Edward served in the U.S. Navy from 1948-51 and attained the rate of Electricians Mate 2nd Class Petty Officer.  In November of 1952 he married Winifred Chesler of Jerome, ID and they farmed with his father from 1952-1956. During that time they had two children, Kathleen and Paul.  
Edward worked in many fields of veterinary medicine until his retirement.  He ran a small farm operation since 1973, including a dairy farm for 14 years.
His many civic works include:   President of the Northern San Joaquin Veterinary Assoc. (1977); House of Delegates (1978) & Board of Governors (1979-1982) for the CA Veterinary Medical  Assoc.;  Trustee for the Turlock Mosquito Abatement Assoc. (1980-1992); Board of Directors (1981-1986) for the Stanislaus Dairy Herd Improvement Assoc.; Registered member of the Boy Scouts of America (20+ years); Scoutmaster of Catholic Troop 51 (4 years); Volunteer Veterinarian for the Heifer Project.
Edwards religious activities included:  Knights of Columbus, 3rd degree since 1954; Sacred Heart Church ministries:  Commentator since 1966; Eucharistic Minister since 1986; Pre-Marriage Program in Finance for 10-11 years;  President of the Sacred Heart School Dads Club (1 year); Sacred Heart Men's Choir (3 years); St. Vincent DePaul Society member since 1970 where he served as Treasurer from 1987-1991 and President since 1992.  In 1977 he received the "St. George Emblem" for adult Catholic Scouting from the Stockton Diocese.
Edward is survived by his wife Winifred; children Kathleen (Robert S.) Kearley-Green of Mill Valley, CA, and Paul (Judy) Kearley of Ceres, CA; siblings Carroll (Tacui) Kearley of Los Angeles, CA, Helen (Jack) White of Simi Valley, CA, Mary Ann Kearley of Chesapeake, VA, and William (Sue) Kearley of Boise, ID; brothers-in-law Gene Chesler of Pocatello, ID and Leon (Nancy Davis) Chesler of Spokane, WA.  Edward is also survived by his grandchildren Timothy Green of New Orleans, LA, William Green of Seattle, WA, David Kearley of Ceres, CA, Michael Kearley of Ceres, CA, and Jonathan Kearley of Fresno, CA.
Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 5pm at Allen Mortuary.
Mass will be held on Monday, February 10, 2014 at 12pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Turlock with private burial at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be sent to the St Vincent de Paul Society, 1301 Cooper Avenue, Turlock, CA 95380.
