Edwin Sharp, born in Merced, passed away in his sleep and is now at his rest at the Ripon Cemetery. His roots began in Arkanas with his family later settling in Stockton, CA. At 16 he enlisted in the Navy and by 17 was called to service during WWll serving as a medical corpman in New Caledonia in the southwest Pacific. After being discharged he returned to North Little Rock, AK where he met Janice Burns. The two were married in Ripon, CA. After living in Stockton, in 1953 the couple settled on N. Ripon Rd. becoming life long almond ranchers.
Besides ranching Ed enjoyed horseback riding with his sons, fishing, and traveling through California and the US. Most of all he loved being with his family and attending bible Schools.
Ed was a devoted reader and exhorter of the word of God and our Lord Jesus Christ. He believed in God's unconditional love and the promises to those who believe. Being motivated by his faith, he was loving and generous to his family, friends and neighbors.
Ed is preceded in death by his loving wife Janice, daughter Inger Baker, son Bill, sister Mary Richardson, and brother Sam.
Ed is survived by his wife Shirley, sons Edwin (Margaret), Samuel Baxter (Suzanne), Fred (Carolyn), Bruce (Janel), Herb (Jamie), daughter-in-law Yvonne Sanchez, 14 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren, his sister Jane Zanutto, nieces Karen Olmstead and Jane (Charlie) Bennett, and nephew Jim Taylor.
We all love him and will greatly miss him but we are comforted to know he no longer suffers.
