Howard Taniguchi Obituary

Howard Hideo Taniguchi
Oct. 13, 1926 - Sep. 1, 2012
Howard Taniguchi of Cortez passed away in Turlock on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at the age of 85.  He was a farmer and lived on his family's almond ranch his entire life.  He was a World War II Veteran of the Military Intelligence Service.  He was a member of the Stockton Buddhist Church and Cortez Howakai, Cortez Japanese American Citizens League, Cortez Shinwakai, Cortez Growers Association, and the American Legion.  He is survived by his wife of 59 years Alice, daughters Elaine (Cliff) Emery of Turlock, Norine Shultz of Seattle, Vicki (David) Unruhe of Auburn, Pat (Jim) Ticer of Mariposa, and eight grandchildren.  Also survived by siblings June Asai of Cortez, Mae (Harry) Kajioka of Cortez, Ned (Lois) Taniguchi of Torrance, William Taniguchi of Cortez, and Betty (Cal) Kitazumi of San Francisco, and many nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by eldest sister Peggy Yoshimoto.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 6, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, and the funeral service will be Friday, September 7, 11:00 am, Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Road, Turlock.
Donations in Howard's memory may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
