Thomas Conway Obituary

THOMAS BOONE CONWAY MAR 19, 1924 - FEB 28, 2011 Tom Conway will be remembered as a kind and mellow fellow who thoroughly enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He loved the ocean, sand, sun and physical exercise. Whether lifting weights, biking or swimming, granddad'' was an example of vibrant health. He frequented the Santa Cruz area where he vacationed as a boy and later, with his growing family. Born in Modesto, he was the son of Harry Conway and Mabel Boone and brother to Pat Conway. Tom graduated from UC Berkeley after serving in the Navy during World War 11. An attorney in the local firm of Griffin, Conway and Jones, Tom practiced law for over 40 years. He was an early member of the Del Rio Country Club and the Elks Club of Modesto. With his wife of 23 years, Yvonne Pierrou (Benson), Tom had four children: Tom (Karen) Conway of Modesto, Tana (Brian) Dennen of Oakdale, Caroline Conway and Chris Crow of Joshua Tree and Susan (Stan) Azevedo of Riverbank. He had seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Tom's philosophy of life was ''moderation in all things'' and he exemplified his belief that one must always keep moving.'' His family and his dearest friend Bertha Tonge have fond memories of his easy-going love of life and we feel granddad achieved his goal of living forever, because he will forever live in our hearts and minds. A private family celebration of life will take place at a later date in the Santa Cruz area. www.modbee.com/obituaries

The Conway Family has lost a truly wonderful man. Being a friend of Cici and Susan, having grown up in the same neighborhood, I have many wonderful memories of Mr. Conway. My parents and Mr. Conway continued to be neighbors over many decades and I will always remember his friendly smile while he enjoyed life. Blessings and prayers.

As my uncle I spent many hours with my cousins and always remember him working out around his pool daily. He was in great shape. It was fun getting together with Tana and Susan recently in his home; Cathy Williamson

I met Mr. Conway almost 20 years ago when I joined the law firm..I still work for Gary C. Nelson. We had the most wonderful retirement party for him and we remained friends after he retired. He was a man about life...golf, food, family and fun.. i would run into he and Bertha at Del Rio and it was always a pleasure chatting and catching up with the both of them. Mr. Conway loved to cut up and laugh and that is what I will always remember about him...his great zest for life and laughter....xoxoxoxo
