Martha A. "Marty" Stump, 74, of Monroe passed away peacefully at 1:43 p.m. Monday at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital with loved ones at her side.
Family and friends may visit from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rupp Funeral Home where services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday. Deacon Mike Stewart of St. John the Baptist Parish will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Monroe.
Born August 26, 1943 in Monroe, Marty was the daughter of the late Francis and Nora (Wittkop) Friederichs. She attended Monroe High School and graduated from Airport High School. She married her loving husband, Calvin L. Stump on June 10, 1961 in Monroe. He preceded her in death on August 25, 2017.
After raising their three children, Marty began working for Kentucky Fried Chicken in Monroe in 1977. She then moved to the Flat Rock KFC location when it opened as the store manager in 1978, working there for 30 years before retiring in 2008. Marty enjoyed going up north to their cabin, visiting casinos and spending time with her family and friends.
To cherish her memory, Marty leaves two daughters, Dianne K. (Joseph) Souva of Newport and Laura J. (Kevin) Hewitt of Carleton; two grandchildren, Maxwell Hewitt and Alexander Hewitt, both of Carleton; and one brother, James M. (Sandy) Friederichs of Florida.
In addition to her husband Calvin and her parents, Marty was also preceded in death by a son, James C. Stump; two brothers, Jonay and Thomas Friederichs; and son-in-law, Joseph P. McMullin.
Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Humane Society of Monroe County.
