Lucille Bruce Obituary
Mrs. Lucille Jones Bruce a resident of Montgomery, Alabama expired June 8, 2106. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at 12:00 noon from St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church, Woodley Road. Interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Letohatchee, Alabama. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral service.
Mrs. Lucille Jones Bruce was born December 26, 1928 in Letohatchee, AL to the union of the late Bradley Jones and Louise Fleeton Jones. Mrs. Lucille accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the age of 9 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church by Pastor Chambers, and served where she could. She married the late Willie J. Bruce of Letohatchee, AL, and they birth 14 beautiful children to this union; 7 boys and 7 girls: Corine Bruce Watkins, Arthur J. Bruce, Sylvester J. Bruce, Delores Bruce Mitchell, Mae Bruce McTier, Barbara Bruce Winns, Faye Bruce Franklin, Michael Bruce, Jackie Bruce, Evangella Bruce, Rickey Bruce, Teresa Bruce Little, Aundray Bruce, Kirby Bruce who are still among this earth. She has six brothers; four preceded in death and one sister preceded in death. She later joined Zion Hill Baptist Church, Rev. London, Pastor for many years; she served faithfully on the senior usher board, senior choir, and led many songs where she loved worshipping and praising God. She then joined St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Sylvester Bruce, Pastor, she served on the senior usher board faithfully and senior choir. Lucille attended Calhoun High School.
She was a devoted wife, loving and caring mother, exceptional grandmother, loving daughter, sister and friend to many and a mother of many. She resided in Montgomery in a few residence homes and the Gibbs Village community where she was so loved over many years by many and received all as family. She fed, counseled, disciplined and loved all her life. She laid hands on many children and souls were saved, she gave them the road to Christ and then Hillwood community where she was so loved by her neighbors and she loved them. But God was her first love.

Moma, You know me better than anybody other than God, I promised you that I will not leave this Journey that Im on with God and I Love you more than my mouth could ever say, You were my Brook and I need you so much it was Priceless on all the things you taught me even in my wrong I could come to you and you showed me the right way. Thank you and thank you for helping me raise my son all the Wisdom have been a Blessing for me and him. Thank you for Wishing me all the Joy and happiness in this new Journey and accepting. I did not get the opportunity to be around my grandma often but when I did see her it was so so special.I thank God that I was able to stay with her for a couple of days in 2013.I remember when I was a little girl and my dad Aundray sent me to stay with her for the first time.She said "we got to get your hair done,get you some dresses,and you going to church with me".She said everywhere I go you going.I will miss you Grandma,RIP.

A person that departs from this earth never truly leaves, for they are still alive in our hearts and minds, through us, they live on. Prayers and fond memories are what we have to remember our dearly departed. May the love of family and friends comfort you during these difficult days, Our most heartfelt condolences.
I remember those good old days in Gibbs Village growing up with you guys especially Jackie! I will always keep those fond memories of those days. Mrs.Bruce was a very nice person. I remember when Mrs. Bruce moved away from Gibbs Village.
I want to thank your family for being their for me and my family with the loss of my brothers and mother at one point and time of my life. I pray that God continue to Bless the family and to give you all strength to go through this difficult time. Gibbs Village family still support and stick together even up to this day! I am deeply sorry for the loss of your Mother. Mrs. Bruce was a phenomenal woman. A strong woman who raised 14 children to the best of her ability. It is hard raising 1. I want you all to know your mother will forever love and watch over her babies. We are never too grown for our parents, to them we are always their babies. I can only image how hard it is losing such a wonderful Mother. Our prayers and thoughts are with all of u during this difficult time.

You had one of greatest and nicest mom I'very ever known coming from McIntyre school one day when I was a little girl a boy tried to beat me up and she was sitting on the porch and she said don'the do that Mrs Bruce stand up in her yard and watch me until I got out of her sight.
